In the fast-paced world of today, prioritising well-being often takes a back seat as we juggle work, responsibilities, and the demands of modern life. Yet, it's vital to recognise that a healthy mind and body are the foundation of productivity and success in any professional setting.
Madeleine Blanchard's "7 Laws of Brain Care" is a model that I really love. It’s a simple tool to check on how I am doing that I can use on me, and on my team to help whenever I notice a dip. In this blog, I go into the 7 and discover how simple they are to use and guide, advise and coach with.

Running a business can be exhilarating, but it's no secret that it comes with its fair share of challenges.

1. Rest: Prioritise Your Zzz's.

As a business owner, your schedule may resemble a juggling act, especially if you're sharing your bed with multiple occupants (I feel you, we currently have 4 in a bed!). Despite the chaos, make a conscious effort to prioritise a consistent eight hours of nightly sleep. If you don’t already have one, create a sleep sanctuary it really does make a difference.

2. Oxygenate: Keep Moving.

Whether it's squeezing in a gym session or taking a brisk walk during your break, keeping your body in motion is key. Physical activity not only keeps you fit but also enhances brain function. Without it, you might find yourself feeling sluggish and less productive. Find what works for you – it's not about the intensity but the consistency.

3. Fuel: Listen to Your Body.

Your body is a reliable source of information. Tune in to its cues and adjust your diet accordingly. Incorporate nutrient-rich foods (my simple mind understands if it’s raw it’s good and packed full of what I need!) to fuel both your body and mind. A well-nourished body is better equipped to handle the demands of entrepreneurship.

4. Hydrate: Sip, Sip, Hooray!

Staying hydrated is crucial for peak performance, but let's face it – it's not always easy to remember. Keep a water bottle handy and make sipping water a habit. Your body and mind will thank you for the clarity and refreshment.

5. Serenity: Moments of Calm.

Amidst the hustle, intentional moments of calm and mindfulness are non-negotiable. Incorporate practices that reduce stress and promote mental resilience. Whether it's a few deep breaths, a short meditation, or a quiet moment with a cup of tea – find what brings you serenity.

6. Learning: Exercise Your Brain.

Challenge your brain by embracing continuous learning. It's not just about business strategies; it could be anything that sparks your curiosity. Keeping your mind engaged contributes to cognitive vitality and keeps you at the top of your game.

7. Connect: Build Relationships.

In the fast-paced world of business, don't forget the power of connections. Foster relationships with your team, clients, and fellow entrepreneurs. These connections contribute not only to emotional well-being but also to cognitive health. A supportive network is a valuable asset.
By nurturing yourself, you're not only enhancing your own well-being but creating a positive ripple effect throughout your business. So, prioritise your rest, keep moving, listen to your body, stay hydrated, find moments of serenity, keep learning, and build connections. Your business and your team will thank you for it.
